DianSheng 4-Corner Hexagonal Dipyramid

Inside the DianSheng 4-Corner Hexagonal Dipyramid there is a regular 3x3 mechanism. On the outside, however, it looks like a hexagonal dipyramid: two hexagonal pyramids joined at their bases. It is a shape mod that loses its shape when scrambled, so while solving you have to restore the shape as well as the colors. This is the refreshed V2 edition with colored tiles instead of stickers, in black plastic.

How to solve it

The moves are the same as on a 3x3 cube, and the color scheme matches a classic cube. If you can solve a 3x3, you can solve this puzzle too. The challenge lies elsewhere. Because of the unusual cuts, some corners look very similar, and it is easy to mix up which one is already in its correct place. This is exactly what users name as the biggest strength of this puzzle.

Users describe the turning of the V2 as light, quiet and smooth right out of the box. Keep in mind, though, that this is not a speedcube. Don't expect corner cutting on the level of modern 3x3 cubes, and because of its shape, it takes a moment to get used to holding it securely.

For people who have already mastered the 3x3 and are looking for something different without learning new algorithms. It's a good first shape mod, because everything new comes down to the shape and recognizing the pieces. It also makes a great addition to a collection next to the 6-Corner version from DianSheng, which has a different corner layout. If you can't solve a 3x3 yet, start with a classic cube.
