DianSheng Galaxy 15x15 M is a magnetic 15x15 cube from the Galaxy series. According to distributors, it is the first mass-produced magnetic 15x15. Until now, magnets in a cube this big usually had to be installed by hand. The first thing you notice is the size: the edge is only about 97 mm, so with 15 layers a single center piece is only about 4.5 mm wide. The cube has flat faces (it is not a pillow shape) and comes in a stickerless version.

How it turns

The cube uses light magnets. They don't snap the layers into place as strongly as in a 3x3 cube, but they make it easier to line up the rows, and with this many layers that matters a lot. In reviews, users describe the turning as smooth and stable, with few pops. Several of them say the difference is clear compared with older big cubes without magnets. One reviewer would have preferred stronger magnets. The outer layers are wider and slightly contoured to make the cube easier to grip.

Straight out of the box, the factory lube can make the layers stick a little. This usually goes away after the first scramble and solve. With a cube this size, one habit is also useful: when a turn starts to resist, press the cube against the table to align the rows. This lowers the risk of pops.

Black Internals or Primary Internals?

Both versions have the same mechanism and differ only in the color of the plastic inside. The Black Internals version has black internals, while Primary Internals has colored internals that match the faces. Colored internals are less visible when layers are not fully turned. Black internals give a more contrasting look. The choice is mainly a matter of taste.

Who is this cube for?

This cube is for people who enjoy big cubes and have already solved 7x7 and larger puzzles. It can also be the next cube in your collection, e.g. after the Galaxy 12M, 13M or 14M. Solving a 15x15 with the reduction method takes many hours, and for some people the first solve takes even several days. This model is not suitable as a first cube, including as a gift for a child. As an odd-layer cube, it has fixed centers, so you know from the start where each color goes.
