DianSheng Galaxy 9x9 M

DianSheng Galaxy 9x9 M was released in 2022. It was the first factory-magnetized 9x9 cube. Before that, you had to install magnets in cubes of this size yourself, so the model quickly became popular among big cube solvers. The cube is stickerless and measures 73 mm, which makes it quite compact for a 9x9 and comfortable to hold.

Magnets tuned for every layer

The magnets work on all layers, and their strength varies: they are strongest near the center of the cube and get weaker with each layer towards the outer ones. The overall magnetic feel is rather light. The layers clearly snap into place, but the cube doesn't feel heavy to turn, and on such a big cube this means fewer misalignments and lockups.

How it solves

The mechanism is built similarly to other 9x9 cubes. Users most often praise the outer layers, which turn smoothly, and the stability. With more aggressive turning, catches can still happen. This is a limitation big cube manufacturers have been dealing with for years, but on the Galaxy it occurs less often than on many competing models. According to some reviews, the inner layers are quite stiff right out of the box, so the cube needs some time to break in. Lubing it and adjusting the tension with the included screwdriver also helps.

M or Ball-Core version?

This cube is the standard magnetic version. DianSheng later released the Galaxy 9x9 M Ball-Core variant, which has additional magnets in the core. It gives stronger layer alignment but is slightly heavier. The M version is a good choice if you prefer a lighter, less "locked-in" feel.

Who is it for?

For cubers who already solve the 6x6 or 7x7 and want to move on to the 9x9, and for anyone building a big cube collection. You can order the cube with black internals (Black Internals) or colored internals (Primary Internals).
