DianSheng Galaxy M 11x11x11

DianSheng Galaxy M 11x11x11 is a magnetic 11x11 cube from the Galaxy series, which also includes the M 8x8, 9x9 and 10x10 versions. Distributors present it as the first factory-magnetized 11x11. Before it, a magnetic cube of this size meant doing it yourself and gluing in hundreds of magnets. The Galaxy M is stickerless and comes in two internal colour variants: Black Internals or Primary Internals.

How does it turn?

At about 82 mm, it is fairly compact and light for an 11x11. It sits in your hand more like a larger 7x7 than a typical big cube. Users mainly praise its very smooth turning. The layers turn easily without any fighting, which you can't take for granted with so many pieces. The magnets don't dominate the feel. Their main job is to help the layers align, so you correct misalignments less often when turning inner layers.

The outer layers are slightly concave and wider than the inner ones, so the cube sits more securely in your fingers. At first, this grip may feel a little different from a regular cube. With a cube this big there are no miracles: reviews mention occasional catching and a few pops, and the factory tension may need adjusting out of the box. It's also worth lubing it properly right away.

Who is it for?

Mainly for big cube fans who have done 7x7 and larger cubes and want to go further, and for anyone completing a collection of sizes. The 11x11 has an odd number of layers, so just like the 5x5 or 7x7 it has fixed centres and is solved using the reduction method. A single solve takes a long time, though, so we don't recommend it as a first cube. For a child who already handles smaller cubes well, the size of about 82 mm makes it easier to hold.

Black or Primary Internals?

The mechanism is the same in both variants; they differ only in the colour of the internal plastic. With Black Internals, the black interior shows in the gaps while turning. With Primary Internals, the internal pieces are coloured, so the cube looks uniform.
