A Teraminx is a megaminx with seven layers on every face, making it the dodecahedral equivalent of a 7x7 cube. The DianSheng Galaxy Teraminx M was the first magnetic Teraminx on the market. It belongs to the Galaxy series, which also includes DianSheng's magnetic Gigaminx and big NxN cubes. We offer it in the Stickerless Bright version, with colored plastic instead of stickers.

How it turns

Users report that the Teraminx M turns smoothly right out of the box, with a rather smooth feel. The outer layers work well from the start. The inner layers can be stiffer at first and need some breaking in. Some units arrive fairly loose, so it's worth spending a moment on setup: tighten the screws and lube the puzzle.

The magnets help align the layers between moves, but they are not strong. If you're used to the distinct "click" of 3x3 cubes, you may miss it here. With this many pieces, imprecise turning still leads to lockups, so you need to finish each turn carefully.

Design and adjustment

• Magnets in the pieces: placed in the corners and edges, they help align the layers.
• Shaped faces: the outer pieces are slightly concave (arc design). This improves grip and gives the puzzle its distinctive look.
• Tension adjustment: there are screws under the center caps, which you tighten with an ordinary screwdriver.

Who is the Teraminx M for?

For those who have already mastered the Megaminx and Gigaminx and want to move on to a bigger puzzle from the same family. You solve it much like the smaller minxes, just with more stages. The Teraminx has an odd number of layers, so there are no parities like those on 4x4 or 6x6 cubes. However, a solve takes considerably longer than on a 7x7, so it's more of a puzzle for relaxed sessions and for your collection than for your first steps with twisty puzzles. If you're just starting out, a regular magnetic Megaminx is a better choice.
