DianSheng Googol 9 CM Magnetic Ivy Cube

An enlarged Ivy Cube from the Googol series, in which DianSheng releases big versions of popular puzzles. The DianSheng Googol 9 CM Magnetic Ivy Cube has a 90 mm edge, so it is noticeably bigger than a typical Ivy, and it comes with factory-installed magnets. The same series also includes a big 2x2, 3x3, Skewb and Pyraminx, among others.

What is the Ivy Cube?

It is a corner-turning puzzle: the layers turn around the corners rather than the faces, similar to the Skewb. The puzzle consists of 6 leaf-shaped centers and 8 corners. The Ivy is one of the simpler puzzles of this type and does not require any knowledge of 3x3 algorithms. That makes it a great first "non-cube" puzzle, including for kids.

How it turns

A big size does not mean heavy, clunky turning. The magnets help the layers settle into place, so moves feel more predictable than on non-magnetic big puzzles. Customers point out in their reviews that, for its size, the Googol Ivy turns surprisingly well. Keep in mind, though, that this puzzle is meant more for fun and collecting than for breaking records. The Ivy Cube is not a WCA event, and at 9 cm you hold it differently than standard puzzles.
