Googol is DianSheng's series of oversized puzzles. The DianSheng Googol Magnetic Megaminx is the magnetic megaminx in this series. Its edge is approx. 40.5 mm, so it is noticeably bigger than a standard megaminx. Despite its larger body, it is not just a shelf gadget. It comes with factory-installed positioning magnets and spring tension adjustment, features you know from speedcubing puzzles. We offer it in the Stickerless Bright version: coloured plastic, no stickers.

How it turns

The magnets help the layers snap into place, so faces are less likely to stop halfway through a turn, and lockups on the following moves are less common. In reviews, users describe the turning as smooth and stable, and the mechanism as faster than you might expect from such a large megaminx. Many also point out that it is louder than standard megaminxes and has a fairly hollow, "boxy" sound. This may bother you if you solve in a quiet place.

Inside, the pieces have a spiderweb-like structure. The manufacturer uses it to reduce friction, and the open interior is easier to lube. The plastic is matte with medium grip. The surface has subtle embossed texturing that helps you hold the puzzle more securely.

Adjustment

The spring tension is adjustable. This lets you set the megaminx looser for faster turning, or tighter if you prefer more control and fewer accidental moves. The magnet strength cannot be adjusted.

The larger size is above all a comfort upgrade for people with big hands who find a standard megaminx too small. The Googol also works well for learning and demonstrating algorithms, because large pieces are easier to follow. As a megaminx for setting records, it is unlikely to replace flagship standard-size models. However, it is an interesting choice for collectors of the Googol series and for anyone who simply wants to solve a big puzzle comfortably.
