DianSheng Googol Magnetic Skewb (9 cm)

DianSheng Googol 9 CM Magnetic Skewb

DianSheng Googol 9 CM Magnetic Skewb is a skewb in an enlarged 90 mm size. It belongs to the Googol series, in which DianSheng makes big versions of popular puzzles, including the 2x2, 3x3, Pyraminx, Megaminx and Ivy Cube. It's not just a shelf decoration. The puzzle comes with factory-installed magnets and tension adjustment, so you can actually solve it like any other skewb.

How it turns

Despite its size, the skewb turns smoothly. Distributors describe the magnets as strong, so the layers snap clearly into place and it's easier to avoid underturned moves. The pieces have a shape the manufacturer calls "spiderweb", a design intended to improve turning smoothness. In reviews, users say the puzzle turns smoothly and feels stable, much like a standard-size skewb. These are subjective impressions, though, not a technical specification.

Keep in mind that this is simply a big, heavier puzzle. For breaking skewb records, a standard-size model will serve you better. The Googol is more fun for relaxed solving, learning algorithms or as an interesting piece in your collection.

Magnets and adjustment

• Factory-installed magnets. You don't need to add anything yourself.
• Spring compression adjustment. According to distributors, the system has 10 settings, so you can set up the puzzle depending on whether you prefer looser or tighter turning.
• Matte plastic with medium grip.

Who is it for?

For people who like the skewb and want one in an unusual size, for collectors of big puzzles and for those who already own other puzzles from the Googol series. The large pieces are easy to see, so this skewb is also handy for showing moves and algorithms to others, for example a child who is just getting to know this puzzle.
