FanXin 4x4x4 Fisher Cube takes the Fisher Cube idea from 3x3 to 4x4. It is a shape mod, a type of cube that changes shape as you turn it. Inside, it runs on a standard 4x4 mechanism with the same moves and algorithms. Only the shape of the pieces is different, so after a few moves the cube no longer looks like a cube. This version is stickerless in bright colors, with no magnets and no UV coating.

What makes it challenging

On the classic 3x3 Fisher Cube, the cut lines are rotated 45 degrees around one axis. You solve it the same way as a regular cube. The challenge is recognizing which Fisher piece corresponds to which piece of a standard cube. The 4x4 version works on the same principle, but it has more pieces and the shapes are even more confusing. On top of that, you get the parity cases typical of 4x4. A mistake in an algorithm on a cube that already looks completely scrambled can really make your life difficult.

The Fisher 4x4 is not a cube for chasing fast times. With no magnets and an irregular shape, you solve it more slowly and focus on the solution itself rather than TPS. Keep the layers well aligned while turning, because on shape mods a misaligned piece catches on the neighboring layers more easily.
