FanXin Twisty Skewb

FanXin Twisty Skewb

FanXin Twisty Skewb is a Skewb shape mod. The puzzle is twisted by 45 degrees around its vertical axis, so the four side faces are rotated relative to the top and bottom. The moves are exactly the same as on a regular Skewb. After a few turns, however, the puzzle loses its cube shape, and the colour pattern looks completely different from the classic version. We offer this model in the stickerless bright version.

What does the twist change?

The main difference is in the centers. On a regular Skewb, center orientation doesn't matter. Here you have to turn the four side centers the right way, because each side face combines two colours. Your basic Skewb method will still come in handy, but at the end you also need to orient those four centers. That's what makes the Twisty Skewb harder than the original, though far easier than bigger shape mods.

How it turns

Reviewers praise its smooth turning and the light "snap" at the end of each move. The layer clearly clicks into place, so it's easier to feel when a turn is complete, and the puzzle feels more stable. This is a puzzle for solving for fun, not a speedcubing puzzle.

Who is it for?

You'll enjoy it most if you can already solve a Skewb and want something new without learning from scratch. It's also a good, affordable way to expand your collection of shape-shifting puzzles. For your very first puzzle, a regular Skewb is a better choice. Reach for the Twisty once the classic version stops being a challenge.
