Four-Color Cube 2x3x3

A 2x3x3 puzzle that uses only four colors instead of the usual six. The Four-Color Cube 2x3x3 works like a classic 2x3x3 cuboid: it has two layers along one axis and three layers along the other two. Fewer colors change the way you look at the puzzle, and it is still simpler than a standard 3x3. We sell it as a stickerless version in the bright color scheme. The colors are molded into the plastic, so there are no stickers to wear off or peel.

How a 2x3x3 cube turns

The two 3x3 faces turn normally, by 90 degrees. The four side layers can only turn by 180 degrees, because after a quarter turn the shape would no longer fit and the cube would lock up. It takes a moment to get used to, especially if you have only solved the 3x3 so far. This restriction also reduces the number of possible positions, so a 2x3x3 is quicker and easier to solve than a full 3x3 cube.

What four colors change

Fewer colors mean less information to track while solving. This makes the cube approachable for anyone just discovering unusual puzzles. At the same time, it calls for a different way of thinking than the six-color version. You don't need complicated algorithms to solve it. Intuition and basic sequences you know from the 3x3 are enough.

Who is it for?

It's a good cube for anyone who can already solve a 3x3 and wants to try something different without jumping straight into difficult shape mods. It also makes a great gift for a child who enjoys puzzles, and a nice addition to a cuboid collection. It is not a cube for competitive speedcubing: the 2x3x3 is not an official WCA event, and people buy it for variety and fun rather than for breaking records.
