GAN 16 Training Mat Purple

GAN 16 Training Mat Purple

GAN 16 Training Mat Purple is a speedcubing mat that GAN released to celebrate the launch of its flagship GAN16 cube. It features a purple design with blue and pink accents and the GAN16 logo. So it's largely a collectible for anyone who solves on a GAN16 or likes a matching setup. It also works well as a regular training mat.

Why use a mat

On a bare desk your cube slides around easily, and every drop or set-down on a hard surface can leave scratches on the plastic or on the table. A mat gives you a stable, soft surface for practice. Your cube won't slip during inspection or when you put it down, and if it falls out of your hands, it lands on something soft instead of wood or glass. There's also room for a timer on the mat, so you can set up a complete home station for timing your solves.

Everyday convenience

The mat can be rolled up, so it's easy to take to a meetup with other cubers, to school or to a competition, where it comes in handy during warm-up. Once unrolled, it returns to a flat shape. Because it's relatively small, it doesn't take up your whole desk and works well for solo sessions. If you need a bigger surface for several cubes, a timer and an algorithm notebook, consider a larger mat.

Who is it for?

For GAN16 owners who want a mat that matches their cube, and for anyone who practises regularly and wants to protect their cubes and table. The mat also makes a simple gift for a child who is just starting out, together with a first cube or a timer. It won't affect your times by itself, but it makes training easier and you'll worry less about your gear.
