GAN 356 RS2 v2 3x3 Stickerless Bright

The second generation of GAN's budget RS series. The GAN 356 RS2 is a 3x3 cube without magnets. It has GES Pro+ adjustment, a reinforced Wing-shaped Core 2.0 and honeycomb surfaces inside the pieces. GAN set out to fit in the most important features of the 356 line and left out the things that drive up the price. We offer the Stickerless Bright version, made of coloured plastic with no stickers.

How it turns

The RS2 has the typical GAN feel: soft and smooth, with light, "airy" turning. The manufacturer specifies 55° corner cutting and about 35° reverse corner cutting, so the cube forgives less precise moves. Without magnets, the layers don't settle into place on their own. During fast turning, this makes overshooting and lockups more likely than on magnetic cubes. Some users also report catching after popping. Straight out of the box, the cube can feel rather dry, and it usually responds well to lube.

GES Pro+ adjustment and construction

• GES Pro+ with 12 settings: 3 levels of center travel (compression) and 4 levels of tension. You adjust each setting separately with the included tool. Shorter center travel makes the cube feel "tighter" and reduces the risk of popping, while longer center travel improves corner cutting.
• Wing-shaped Core 2.0, GAN's reinforced core, designed to keep layer turns straight and even.
• Honeycomb on the contact surfaces of the pieces helps the lube last longer.

Who is this cube for?

For anyone who is just starting out with cubing or solves for fun and wants a solid GAN cube at an affordable price. It's also a sensible gift for a child who is just learning. The RS2 is also a good fit for cubers who don't like magnets, or for those who want to practise turning control without the help of magnets. If you're aiming for fast times and a high TPS, sooner or later you'll switch to a magnetic cube. Magnets provide stability that the RS2 lacks, and most speedcubers solve on magnetic cubes today.
