GAN Halo Timer Mat is a speedcubing mat that GAN designed for its Halo series timers. What sets it apart from a regular mat most are the two holes near the bottom edge. The GAN Halo timer clips into them, so the timer doesn't slide when you place your hands on the sensors and stop the time. The mat has a portrait orientation, meaning it is longer than it is wide. This leaves more space in front of the timer to put your cube down.

What a mat under your timer gives you

After a solve, the cube usually hits the table quite hard. The soft rubber surface of the mat absorbs that impact. It also protects your cube from dents and scratches and reduces noise on the tabletop. The underside is non-slip, so the mat doesn't slide around the table during a quick start and stop. The edges are stitched, so they don't fray as quickly with daily practice.

Compatibility with the GAN Halo timer

The holes are made to fit the GAN Halo timer, and that's the timer this mat makes the most sense with. The mat also works with another timer or without a timer. Just keep in mind that the two holes at the bottom will always be visible. If you don't have a Halo and don't plan to buy one, a regular mat without holes will do.
