GAN Magic Lube is a medium-viscosity silicone lube for cubes. GAN developed it with its own cubes in mind, but it also works well in puzzles from other brands. It is thicker than water-based "speed" lubes, so it won't give you a short-lived speed boost. Instead, it smooths out turning, reduces friction between pieces and stays in the mechanism longer.

How it works in a cube

GAN Magic is a piece lube, not a thick lube for the core and springs. After applying it, the cube usually turns more smoothly and quietly without becoming slippery. Users most often describe the feel as fast but still controllable. Some people also notice better corner cutting after refreshing their cube with this lube. However, these are opinions, not a technical spec, and a lot depends on the specific cube. Some people find the lube rather sticky. If you want to noticeably speed up your cube, a low-viscosity water-based lube will probably suit you better.

How to apply

A few drops on the corner feet, i.e. the inner parts of the pieces that touch while turning, are enough. Then scramble the cube a few times to spread the lube. It's best to start with a small amount and add more if needed, because too much silicone can slow the cube down. The bottle has transparent walls, so you can see right away how much lube is left. The cap has a safety lock: when opening it for the first time, press it down onto the bottle and turn it to the left.
