GAN 30x30 cm Speedcubing Mat

The GAN 30x30 cm Mat is a small, lightweight mat for solving cubes. It has a simple design and looks good on a desk. It is a 30 cm square, about 3 mm thick, so it takes up little space, and after practice you can easily put it away in a drawer or backpack. The mat features black-and-white artwork with dates, times and elements typical of the GAN brand. The artwork shows the history of 3x3 single world records from the last few years, together with the scrambles they were solved from.

Design and use

In terms of design, the mat is closer to products from MoFangGe or MoYu than to Speed Stacks mats. It is thin and soft, made of rubber foam. It does not have the thick, stiff construction typical of competition mats. In practice it works like a pad: it protects your cube and desk when you put the cube down after a solve or drop it by accident, and it also dampens the knocking sound on a hard desk.

The mat has two buttons for attaching a GAN timer. This keeps the timer from sliding across the mat when you place your hands on the sensors quickly, and the whole setup feels like the one you know from competitions.

The mat fits the first generation of the GAN Smart Timer. For the GAN Smart Timer V2, the manufacturer has made a separate mat with a different shape, so check which timer you have before buying.

Who is it for?

For anyone who practises with a GAN Smart Timer and wants a fixed, stable place for it. The mat also works without a timer as a pad for everyday solving, including for beginners and kids. If you want a full-size competition-style mat, a larger model is a better choice.
