GAN Y Adjust Tool, a GES tension adjustment key

GAN Y Adjust Tool is an original Y-shaped adjustment key from GAN. It fits the GES system (GAN Elasticity System) in versions one to three, as well as GES Nuts. It comes in handy when you want to swap the nuts or change the setup of an older GAN cube and the key from the original set has been lost or damaged.

What it is for

In cubes with the first generations of GES, tension is controlled by interchangeable nuts with a spring inside. Each nut has a spring of a different strength, so swapping the nut changes how the cube feels. The setup can be looser and faster, or tighter and more controllable. The key is used to unscrew and screw in these nuts under the center caps. With it you don't have to fiddle with tweezers or fingernails, and there is less risk of damaging the plastic.

Its Y shape makes it easy to grip and turn the nut, even while holding the cube in your hand. It is made of transparent plastic and weighs about 2 g. It fits in a cube case or in your accessories bag for competitions.

The key is designed for older GES generations. Newer GAN models use different adjustment methods. In GES+ you change the settings with your fingers, and cubes with Magnetic GES and later systems often come with their own dedicated tools. Before buying, check which system your cube uses. If the manual or box mentions GES Nuts or one of the first GES versions, this key will fit.

For owners of older GAN cubes with GES who like to experiment with tension, and for those who bought a second-hand cube without the full set of accessories. It's also worth having a spare key, as the original one is small and easy to lose.
