Heshu 3x3x3 Cube (9cm)

Heshu 3x3x3 Cube (9cm) is a classic 3x3 cube with a 90 mm edge. A standard speedcube is about 56 mm, so this one is noticeably bigger and feels different in your hands right away. Heshu, known for its large 18 cm model, made this cube as a simple model from coloured plastic, without magnets. This version is stickerless in the bright colour scheme, so there are no stickers that could wear off or peel.

How a 9 cm cube turns

With a cube this size, you turn with your whole wrist and hand, not just your fingers. Fingertricks you know from a 56 mm cube work differently here, and your TPS will be noticeably lower. That's normal for a larger size and not a flaw of this particular model. There are also no magnets to help the layers snap into place, so you need to finish your turns more precisely. Otherwise lockups happen more easily. The Heshu has no tension adjustment or compression adjustment like more expensive cubes, so this is a model you don't set up: you just solve it.

Who is it for?

This cube isn't made for breaking records. It makes sense as:

• a change from your main cube and a fun addition to your collection, alongside mini and standard cubes,
• a cube for demonstrating algorithms or teaching solving in a group, because the colours and moves are easy to see from a distance,
• a cube for a younger child who finds bigger pieces easier to grip,
• a decoration for your desk or shelf.

As a first cube for learning to speedsolve, a standard magnetic 3x3 cube is a better choice. The Heshu 9 cm complements it well, but won't replace it.
