KungFu LongYuan 3x3x3

A light, simple non-magnetic 3x3 cube from KungFu, released in 2018. The KungFu LongYuan 3x3x3 is a budget model in the stickerless bright version. The colours are in the plastic itself instead of on stickers, so nothing can peel off or wear away. It has a standard size of 56 mm and weighs approx. 70 g.

How it turns

You can start solving the cube right out of the box. It turns smoothly, and at first you don't need to lube it or take it apart. Corner cutting is good for a cube of this class, so with slightly inaccurate turns the layers usually don't lock up straight away. The matte finish grips your fingers well and doesn't slip in your hand.

Still, keep in mind what this cube is. The LongYuan has no magnets, so it doesn't pull the layers into place by itself. When turning faster, overshooting and catching happen more easily here than with cheap magnetic cubes. Most buyers rate it well, considering its class. However, people who later moved on to more expensive models point out a clear difference. For regular timed practice, it's better to choose a budget magnetic cube, usually marked with the letter M.

Tension adjustment

The cube has adjustment screws. If it becomes too loose over time or feels too tight, you can tighten or loosen it and adjust the turning resistance to suit you.

Who is this 3x3 cube for?

The LongYuan works well for someone who is just learning to solve the cube with the layer-by-layer method. It's also a good first cube for a child or a spare cube for school or your backpack that you won't mind damaging. The model is legal for official competitions, so you can use it at your first tournaments.
