KungFu Yuehun 2x2x2: a cheap, simple 2x2

KungFu Yuehun 2x2x2 is a non-magnetic 2x2 cube from the Chinese brand KungFu. It is simple and affordable. It works well as your first 2x2 or as a spare cube to keep in your backpack. Solving a 2x2 is a good place to start, because the cube has only eight corners and no edges or centers. If you already know the layer-by-layer method for the 3x3, you will quickly learn to solve the 2x2 too.

How it turns

The Yuehun turns lightly and smoothly. It has a smooth feeling without noticeable tactile resistance. For a budget model, its corner cutting is decent. When you cut at around 45°, the cube usually doesn't block, so a slightly inaccurate move doesn't immediately end in a lockup. There are no magnets, so the layers don't settle into place on their own. During fast turning, overshooting is more likely than with magnetic 2x2 cubes, and you need to control your finger moves more carefully. For a beginner, this is no obstacle. A speedcuber training for high TPS will sooner or later want to switch to a magnetic model.

Construction and tension adjustment

The construction is simple and durable, and the internals are made of transparent plastic. The cube has adjustment screws. By tightening or loosening them, you set the tension: tighter if you prefer more control, or looser if you want faster, lighter turning. It measures approx. 50 mm, so it is smaller than a typical 3x3 cube and fits well in smaller hands, too. It weighs approx. 69 g.

The available color versions are Stickerless Bright (colored plastic, no stickers) as well as Black and White, i.e. the cube with a black or white body and stickers.

Who is it for?

For children and anyone just starting out with cubes. For parents looking for an affordable starter 2x2. For cubers who want a cheap 2x2 for practicing algorithms. You can also use this cube at official competitions. If you are counting on stability and precision for fast solving, go straight for a magnetic 2x2. The Yuehun is a good first 2x2 before it's time for a faster model.

    Chciałem DaYana, ale wysoka cena + rola jaką miał pełnić (zabawka dla 3-letniego syna na odwrócenie uwagi od innych kostek) zachęciły mnie do losowego zakupu w niższym budżecie. Teraz cała rodzina ją układa. Kostka chodzi szybko, prawie nie zacina się, nie rozwala, wytrzymuje upadki. Mimo małego hałasu jaki robi (a i tak ciszej niż Rubiks) mile mnie zaskoczyła i polecam każdemu początkującemu i mniej początkującemu.
