LanLan Curvy Hexagram Pyraminx Cube

LanLan Curvy Hexagram Pyraminx Cube is a shape-shifting Pyraminx-style puzzle, also known as the Star Pyraminx. From the outside it looks like a classic tetrahedron, but thanks to its deep, curved cuts it works in a completely different way. It is a 12-axis puzzle in which each corner turns together with the neighbouring edges. The version in our shop has a black body.

Mechanism and jumbling

The key feature of this Pyraminx is its mechanism based entirely on jumbling. Every move is a jumbling move, which means the pieces swap places in unusual ways and the puzzle loses its shape straight away. This jumbling is not random, though. It follows specific rules, and understanding them is exactly what you need to solve the puzzle.

Some pieces get partially blocked (bandaging), but according to users this rarely gets in the way of solving. In terms of difficulty, the Curvy Hexagram is similar to puzzles from the Curvy Copter family. You can work out the solution largely by intuition, without a long list of algorithms, but it is definitely not an easy puzzle. If you only know the regular Pyraminx, get ready for a completely different challenge.

Adjustment

Tension is set with adjustment screws. With a jumbling puzzle, it is worth adjusting them so that moves go through without catching and pieces do not pop out in unusual positions.

Who is it for?

This puzzle is for advanced solvers and collectors who have already mastered classic cubes and are looking for something they need to figure out on their own. It is not suitable for competitive speedcubing, as it is not a WCA event. For a first Pyraminx, including for a child, a standard model is a better choice.
