This puzzle is for anyone who already knows the classic Skewb and wants something less ordinary. The LanLan Gear Curvy Skewb Rhombohedron is a gear puzzle shaped like a rounded (curvy) rhombohedron. A rhombohedron looks like a cube squashed along one of its diagonals. The body is black.

What the name means

The name tells you how this puzzle differs from a regular Skewb:

• Skewb. The layers turn around axes that pass through the corners, not through the face centers as on a 3x3 cube. If you know how to solve a Skewb, you have a good starting point.
• Gear. As in other gear puzzles, the pieces are linked to each other. When you turn, you have to keep track of relationships that don't exist on a classic Skewb. That's why standard algorithms aren't enough.
• Curvy Rhombohedron. This is the outer shape. The rounded faces and irregular form make it harder to keep track of where the pieces are than on a regular cube.

Made for solving, not for speed

This is a shape mod, not a speedcubing cube. It isn't a WCA event, so TPS, corner cutting and tension settings don't matter much here. What counts is the puzzle itself: understanding how the gear mechanism works and finding your own solving method. It's best to turn calmly and all the way, without forcing any moves.

Who is it for?

For cubers who have already tackled a few basic puzzles and enjoy unusual ones.
