LanLan Gear Heart Cube

LanLan Gear Heart Cube is a puzzle from LanLan's gear series where what you can't see matters more than the shape itself. Inside, there are gears at work. When you turn the outer part, the mechanism also turns the middle layer on its own. The shape is similar to the LanLan Honey Copter, but thanks to the gears this puzzle behaves differently from a regular cube. We sell the black version. Some sources list the same model as the LanLan Gear Lucky Clover Heart Cube.

How the hidden gear mechanism works

In a classic cube, each layer turns independently. Here, the movement of one part is passed through the gears to the next, so a single turn changes the position of several pieces at once. At first it's hard to predict. Before you start solving, you need to work out which parts move together and in what ratio. The mechanism isn't visible from the outside, so only your first few turns will show you how this puzzle works.

This is not a speedcube and it isn't part of any official WCA event. Instead of TPS and times, what counts here is understanding the mechanism and coming up with your own solving method.

Who is it for?

The Gear Heart Cube is a great choice for cubers who already know the standard 3x3 and want to try something different. It will also appeal to people who collect unusual puzzles from LanLan's gear series and shape mods. Thanks to its name and heart theme, it's often chosen as a gift. If you're buying for a beginner, keep in mind that it's more of a brain teaser than a first cube for learning to solve.
