LanLan Wolf Tooth is a puzzle from the family of Skewb shape mods. It looks like a cube merged with an octahedron, with a sharp pyramid sticking out of every face, hence the name "Wolf Tooth". Underneath is a standard Skewb mechanism, so the layers turn around the corners. However, the shape and the colour layout mean you solve it differently from a standard Skewb. We offer the Black version, which has black plastic with coloured stickers.

How it differs from a regular Skewb

The corners are the same as on a classic Skewb. What changes are the centres, which are shaped like pointed pyramids, like the vertices of an octahedron. Each of these pieces has several colours, so you need to keep track of both the position and the orientation of the pieces. If you know the Skewb Xtreme, you'll notice a similar approach to solving. If you're new to the Skewb, the main challenge will be reading the state of the puzzle, because the unusual shapes make the pieces harder to recognise.

How it turns

According to user reviews, the Wolf Tooth turns smoothly straight out of the box, so it doesn't need lube to get started. Every time a layer locks into place, you feel a noticeable "click". This puzzle isn't meant for speedcubing. What matters here is mainly the interesting shape and the solving itself, not TPS or corner cutting.

Who is it for?

The Wolf Tooth is a great choice if you can already solve a Skewb and want to try one of its modifications, and for collectors of unusual puzzles. For your very first puzzle, a regular Skewb is a better choice. Once you've mastered the basics, moving on to the Wolf Tooth will be a natural next step. It's not a WCA event, so this puzzle isn't used at official competitions.
