Lee 2x2 Crazy Fisher Cube

Lee 2x2 Crazy Fisher Cube is a shape mod puzzle built on a regular 2x2 cube. The idea comes from the Fisher Cube, a cube with rotated cuts. Just a few moves and it loses its cubic shape and looks completely different from how it started. Inside is a 2x2 cube by QiYi. The corners are fitted with 3D-printed outer caps, and they are what give the puzzle its unusual shape.

How to solve it

Inside there is a standard 2x2 mechanism, so you solve it exactly like a regular 2x2 cube. The methods and algorithms you already know are all you need. A 2x2 cube consists only of corners, so solving the colors also restores the original shape. The challenge lies in recognizing the pieces. When scrambled, the shape is heavily distorted and the pieces all look different, so it's hard to see right away where everything is. That's why it helps to know the color scheme well. To solve it smoothly, you need to get used to looking at the colors and not being misled by the shape.

Build

The 3D-printed caps enlarge the cube to approx. 58 mm and add weight. It weighs approx. 80 g, so it feels noticeably heavier in your hand than a typical speedcubing 2x2. The turning comes from the QiYi mechanism, while the shape of the caps affects how the cube sits in your hands. This is not a model for setting speed records, but a puzzle for relaxed solving and for your collection. Available in black (Black).

For anyone who can already solve a 2x2 cube and wants to try something different without learning a new method. It also works well as a first shape mod before more difficult shape-shifting puzzles, e.g. the Fisher Cube 3x3. Collectors of unusual cube modifications will love it too.
