Lee 2x2 Double-Fisher Cube

Lee 2x2 Double-Fisher Cube is a 2x2 shape mod built on a regular 2x2 mechanism. Lee adds 3D-printed shells that give the cube the shape of a double Fisher (other shops also list this model as Dual Fisher 2x2). In a regular Fisher, the cuts are rotated relative to the faces. The Double-Fisher repeats this twice, so the faces have a symmetrical pattern. After a few moves the cube loses its regular shape and looks completely different from a classic 2x2.

How it solves

The mechanism inside is a regular 2x2, so in theory you solve it the same way. All you need is a 2x2 method, with no new algorithms to learn. In practice it is noticeably harder than a standard cube. Once scrambled, the pieces have different shapes, so recognising them and working out which corner goes where takes more attention. The cube works well for relaxed solving and as a curiosity for your collection. It is not tuned for speedcubing, so there is no point comparing it with magnetic 2x2 cubes in terms of TPS or corner cutting.

Fisher, Double-Fisher and other Lee mods

Lee offers several shape mods based on the 2x2, including the regular Fisher, Ghost Fisher and Windmill. The Double-Fisher looks less typical than the single Fisher and its pieces are a bit harder to recognise, but it still relies on a simple 2x2 mechanism. If you are just starting out with shape-shifting puzzles, it is a gentler start than shape mods based on the 3x3.

Who is it for?

For anyone who can already solve a 2x2 or 3x3 and wants to try something other than yet another speedcube. For puzzle collectors, it is a sensible addition to a shelf of shape mods. As a child's first cube, a standard 2x2 or 3x3 is a better choice; get the Double-Fisher once the basics are mastered.
