Lee 5-Sides Fisher Pyraminx is a handmade Pyraminx modification by Lee, a Chinese modder who releases his designs under the Calvin's Puzzle label. This is not a Pyraminx for timed speedcubing. You buy it for its unusual construction and a solving experience that is completely different from a regular tetrahedron. The version we offer has a black body.

What "Fisher" means in a Pyraminx

The term comes from Tony Fisher, who popularized the idea of rotating the turning axes relative to the shape of the puzzle. In such modifications the cutting planes do not line up with the shape, so after a few moves the puzzle no longer looks like a tetrahedron. That is why this product is also listed among shape-shifting puzzles: when solving, you have to restore not only the correct colors but also the original shape.

How to solve it

Knowing the classic Pyraminx helps, because it lets you understand how the pieces move. WCA algorithms alone are not enough, though. Since the shape changes, it is harder to tell which piece is which, and you will have to work out some of the moves yourself. The puzzle has no magnets and behaves differently from modern speed cubes. What matters here are calm, precise turns, not TPS or corner cutting.

Lee makes these puzzles by hand. With pieces like these, small differences in finish and in how the mechanism turns are normal. Do not expect the same consistency as with mass-produced cubes.

Who is it for?

For those who can already solve a Pyraminx and other basic puzzles and are looking for something that will make them think on their own. It is also a great pick for collectors of modifications and shape mod puzzles. For a first Pyraminx, including one for a child, it is better to choose a classic magnetic model and come back to the Fisher later.
