Lee Crazy 2x3x3 Cube is a 2x3x3 puzzle with the circular cuts that gave the Crazy series its name. This handmade modification by Lee looks like a simple cuboid, but after just a few moves you will see that it solves completely differently from a regular 2x3x3 cube. It is available in the Black/silver colour scheme.

How the Crazy 2x3x3 works

The base is a 2x3x3 mechanism. The top and bottom layers turn 90 degrees, while the side faces turn only 180 degrees (a so-called flip). The Crazy series adds a circular cut in the middle of the face. In the classic Crazy 2x3x3, turning the top layer sometimes rotates the whole face and other times only the ring around a stationary circle. Every flip of a side face reverses this relationship, because the circle of one face is always connected to the entire opposite face.

In practice, you have to keep track not only of the colours but also of the current state of the mechanism. Knowing methods for the 3x3 or a regular 2x3x3 helps, but you will need to adapt them to the new way the pieces move.

What to expect

This is a collector's puzzle, not a speed cube. The cube has no magnets and is handmade, so turning is slower than on mass-produced cubes, and calm, precise moves work better than fast ones. Handmade mods may have minor finishing imperfections and slightly heavier layer movement. If you are familiar with this kind of puzzle, this probably won't surprise you.

Who is it for?

For those who have already mastered the 3x3 and a few cuboids and want a puzzle that makes you think, rather than just running through algorithms quickly. The cube is also a great addition to a collection of mods and unusual puzzles. For a child's first cube, a classic 3x3 is a better choice.
