A handmade 2x3x3 cuboid by Lee with Crazy mechanics. Depending on the state of the puzzle, the round centers on the top and bottom either turn together with the layer or stay in place. It has a black body and is designed for collecting and relaxed solving, not for speedcubing.
Lee Crazy 2x3x3 Cube is a handmade puzzle by Lee, a designer known for his mods in the Calvin's Puzzle collection. It is based on the 2x3x3 layout, meaning two 3x3 layers, and adds "Crazy" mechanics: round centers on the top and bottom faces that, depending on the state of the puzzle, either turn together with the layer or stay in place. We offer the black version (Black).
The moves are the same as on a regular 2x3x3 cuboid. You turn the top and bottom layers by 90°, while the side faces turn only by 180°. The difference lies in the centers. In the solved state, when you turn the top layer, the round center stays in place and only the ring around it rotates. After you turn one of the side faces, the same layer may turn as a whole, center included. The mechanics change as you solve, so besides placing the corners and edges, you also have to keep track of the position and orientation of the round centers.
This is a collector's mod, not a speedcubing cube. There is no tension adjustment, no swappable spring system and nothing that would help you push your TPS. You solve it at a relaxed pace, working out the order of moves, and once solved it looks great on a shelf. Because each piece is made by hand, turning resistance and play may differ slightly from what you know from mass-produced cubes.
For people who can already solve the 3x3 and want something unusual, especially those who know 2x3x3 cuboids or the Domino. Knowing how to solve a regular 2x3x3 helps a lot, as the Crazy version adds an extra layer of difficulty on top of it. It will also appeal to collectors of Crazy series puzzles and Lee mods. For a child's first cube, a classic 3x3 is a better choice.
