MF8 Ball 2x2 Skewb is a spherical puzzle by MF8 in which a single mechanism combines the moves of a 2x2 cube and a Skewb. On international websites it is also known as the Rainbow Ball or the spherical skewb 2x2x2 ball. This is not a speed cube for timed solves. It is a puzzle for people who already know the classic puzzles and want to solve something more challenging.

How this spherical 2x2 and Skewb puzzle works

The ball turns in two ways. The first is face turns, just like on a 2x2 cube. The second is turns around the corners, just like on a Skewb. You can mix both types of moves, so after a few turns the pieces move in ways you won't see on either a regular 2x2 or a Skewb. The round shape makes orientation even harder, because there are no flat faces to show you which side is which.

Knowing 2x2 and Skewb methods will help you get started, but it won't be enough. To solve the ball, you need to understand how the two kinds of moves affect each other, and you will often have to find your own sequences. Specialist puzzle shops abroad rate this model as a high-difficulty puzzle.

The MF8 mechanism is not designed for aggressive turning like speedcubing cubes. Turn the layers gently and don't force them, and the puzzle will last longer.
