MF8 Full Function 2x3x4 is a cuboid in which each of the three dimensions is different: 2, 3 and 4 pieces. None of the faces is square, so every 90-degree turn changes the shape of the puzzle. After a 180-degree turn, it returns to its cuboid form. That is why this cuboid belongs to the shape-shifting puzzle category. "Full Function" means that you can turn every layer on every axis, including the inner ones.

Full function from day one

The first 2x3x4 units from MF8 had a mechanism that blocked moves in some positions (so-called bandaging). To make the cube fully functional, you had to replace several internal pieces. According to distributors, since the end of 2014 the cube has left the factory as full function and no longer needs any modifications.

How it turns

User opinions are mixed, so we'll be honest about both sides. Turning is fairly smooth, and the mechanism has a noticeably springy feel that allows some stretching without popping. The most common complaint concerns the inner layers, which can get misaligned. That's when lockups and catching appear. Usually a gentle back-and-forth wiggle of the layer is enough to put everything back in place so you can finish the move. This cube rewards calm, precise turning rather than aggressive turns.

Don't take this cube apart unless you have to. There are lots of small pieces inside, and putting it back together is really difficult.

Who is it for?

This cuboid is for those who have already mastered simpler cuboids, e.g. 2x2x3 or 3x3x4, and want to take on their first truly irregular puzzle. Solving it requires getting used to the shape changes and to methods typical for cuboids. For collectors it's a classic model, as there are few fully functional 2x3x4 puzzles on the market. For a child's first puzzle, it's better to choose something simpler and less mechanically demanding.
