The Jumble Prism II is a triangular prism designed by Oskar van Deventer and produced by MF8. Every move here is a jumbling move, so the puzzle changes shape and some turns become temporarily blocked. Version II has a black body with white, green and orange stickers.
MF8 Oskar Jumble Prism II is a jumbling puzzle shaped like a triangular prism. The idea came from Bram Cohen, the design is by Oskar van Deventer, and MF8 made the mass-produced version. The shape looks harmless, but this puzzle is one of the most unusual in our range. Version II has a black body with white, green and orange stickers.
On a classic cube, every full-step turn restores the geometry, so all layers can still be turned. The Jumble Prism works differently: every move is a jumbling move. The rotation axes run through the corners of the prism, so after a move the pieces shift in a way that makes the cuts no longer line up. Some turns then become blocked (bandaging), and the puzzle changes shape. On the Helicopter Cube, jumbling is only an option. Here there is not a single "normal" move that avoids it.
In practice, after a few moves you have to think not only about the colors but also about which turns are possible at that moment. There is no simple beginner method for it, and the solutions worked out by the community rely on long move sequences.
Both versions have the same mechanism and shape. The only difference is the sticker colors: the Jumble Prism I has yellow, red and blue, while the Jumble Prism II has white, green and orange. So the choice comes down to the color scheme, or whether you are collecting both versions.
For experienced puzzlers and collectors who have already tackled shape-shifting puzzles and are looking for something that requires a completely different way of thinking. For fans of Oskar's designs, it is also an interesting addition to the collection, as the Jumble Prism was one of the first puzzles where jumbling applies to every move. This is not a speedcubing cube and it is not used in official WCA events. For a child's first puzzle, it is better to choose something simpler.
