Monster Go Edu 3x3x3 Magnetic

Monster Go EDU 3x3x3 Magnetic

A budget 3x3 magnetic cube from Monster Go, GAN's sub-brand. The Monster Go EDU 3x3x3 Magnetic was released in 2022 as a direct competitor to the MoYu RS3 M 2020, one of the most popular cheap speedcubes. It has a classic 56 mm size, factory-installed magnets and colored stickerless plastic (stickerless bright).

How it turns

Straight out of the box, the EDU is fast and set up fairly loose. It comes pre-lubed and has a smooth feel that users describe as "wet". The magnets are moderately strong but noticeable, and they help the layers snap into place. The cube weighs approx. 90 g, with the weight concentrated more in the center than in the pieces themselves. This makes it feel stable and solid in your hands. It also resists popping well.

There are two things worth knowing. Some people find the cube too fast with the factory setup, giving too little control. Also, in comparisons with the RS3 M 2020, its corner cutting is slightly weaker. For learning and your first fast solves, this is more than enough. A more experienced cuber, however, may notice the difference with less precise turning.

Design and adjustment

• Magnets in the pieces with moderate strength, factory-installed.
• Honeycomb structure inside the pieces, which helps spread the lube evenly.
• Screw adjustment. You can change the tension with classic screws. There is no spring compression adjustment system, no MagLev and no magnets in the core. This is where the EDU differs from the RS3 M 2020, which has dual adjustment.

Who is it for?

As a first magnetic cube for a child, for someone switching from a non-magnetic cube, or as a cheap backup or "backpack" cube. The EDU suits people who like looser, fast cubes and don't want to spend time on setup. If you prefer a tighter setup and more adjustment options, you may want to consider the RS3 M 2020 in a similar price range.
