Monster Go Mirror is a mirror cube from the Monster Go line, GAN's budget brand. Its mechanism is very similar to the magnetic GAN Mirror M, just without magnets. The Box version in Yellow has yellow plastic and orange metallic stickers that shimmer in the light. The cube was released in 2022.

What is a mirror cube?

Mechanically, it's a regular 3x3 cube, but all sides are the same colour and the pieces differ in thickness. Once scrambled, the cube loses its cubic shape. You solve it with the same algorithms as a 3x3, but instead of colours you recognize pieces by their height and shape. At first this can be confusing, because it's harder to tell which piece fits where. If you already know a 3x3 method, it's a great exercise for your orientation on the cube.

How it turns

The Monster Go Mirror is designed as a speedcube, not a toy. Users praise its smooth turning and decent corner cutting, and the turning feels more controllable than very fast. Since it's a non-magnetic cube, the layers don't snap into place on their own, so you need to turn a bit more precisely to avoid lockups. Some users also report that a few layers feel slightly loose out of the box. This can be fixed, as the cube has tension adjustment.

Monster Go Mirror or GAN Mirror M?

The key difference is the magnets. The GAN Mirror M has 48 magnets in its pieces, so the layers align themselves and the cube is more stable during fast solving. The Monster Go Mirror has a similar mechanism but no magnets, and it costs noticeably less. If you solve mirror cubes for time and stability matters to you, the GAN Mirror M is the better choice. For learning and casual solving, the Monster Go Mirror is more than enough.

Who is it for?

For anyone who can already solve a 3x3 and wants to try their first shape mod without spending much. It also makes sense as a gift for a child who is getting into cubing. An experienced cuber who collects mirror cubes and mainly solves for time will probably go for the magnetic version.
