The Monster Go Mirror Cube is a non-magnetic mirror cube from Monster Go, GAN's budget line. It was released in 2022. Its mechanism is very similar to the magnetic GAN Mirror, but this version has no magnets. Our shop stocks the Yellow variant: yellow plastic with orange stickers that have a pearly, metallic sheen and catch the light nicely.

What is a Mirror cube?

The Mirror is a shape mod of the 3x3 cube. All pieces are the same colour, but they differ in thickness. Once scrambled, the cube loses its cuboid shape, and to solve it you have to recognise the pieces by their height and size rather than by colour. The algorithms are the same as on a regular 3x3, so all you need is to know how to solve a classic cube. The challenge is learning to "read" the shapes, especially on the last layer and in parity-like orientation cases. The Mirror is not a WCA event. It's a puzzle for fun and a great way to train piece recognition.

How it turns

Users describe the turning as smooth and the corner cutting as decent. This matters on a mirror cube, because pieces of different sizes catch on each other more easily. With no magnets, the layers don't settle into place as clearly as on the GAN Mirror. When turning fast, you need to pay more attention to keeping the layers aligned. Among non-magnetic mirror cubes, the Monster Go Mirror is well reviewed, but a demanding cuber who wants more stable performance will be happier with the magnetic GAN Mirror.

The Monster Go Mirror Cube is a good choice if you can already solve a 3x3 cube and want to try your first shape mod without spending money on a flagship model. It also makes a great gift for a child who has mastered the classic cube and is looking for a new challenge. If you plan to solve the Mirror often and want more control, consider GAN's magnetic version.
