Monster Go is GAN's budget series for people who are just starting out. Monster Go Pyraminx is a non-magnetic pyraminx and one of the most affordable ways into the WCA's second event after 3x3. Its design is inspired by the GAN Pyraminx. In our shop it comes in the stickerless bright colour scheme, so there are no stickers to wear off or peel.

Positioning without magnets

More expensive pyraminxes, such as the GAN Pyraminx M, use magnets to align the layers. Monster Go does it mechanically: plastic bumps click into grooves, and you feel a clear "click" with every turn. The layer finds its position on its own, which makes it easier for beginners to feel when a move is finished. The puzzle turns smoothly for a non-magnetic model. However, don't expect the same precise settling and stability at high TPS that magnets provide. This is the main difference compared with flagship models.

User reviews are mostly positive. People praise its smoothness and overall quality, although there are some less enthusiastic opinions too. As with any puzzle, a bit of breaking in and possibly some lube can change the feel.

Who is it for?

Monster Go Pyraminx makes the most sense as a first pyraminx. It's a good fit for a child who has already mastered the 3x3 and wants to try something new, and for a cuber who wants to find out whether they enjoy pyraminx before buying a more expensive model. At 60 grams it's light and sits well in smaller hands. If you plan to train regularly and chase faster times, sooner or later you'll be interested in a magnetic version, e.g. the GAN Pyraminx M. For learning a method and your first competitions, Monster Go is more than enough.
