MoYu has released the classic Chinese sliding puzzle Huarong Dao, better known as Klotski, in an electronic version. MoYu AI Klotski is a sliding block puzzle. You don't need to look up starting layouts in a booklet or online, because the levels are stored in the device and the display shows you where to start. We offer the blue version (Blue).

How to play

The board holds blocks of different sizes. Your task is to move the largest one from its starting position to the exit zone at the bottom of the board. Blocks can only be slid across the board, using the two empty spaces. The rules don't allow you to lift or rotate them. It sounds simple, but on harder levels you have to plan several moves ahead, because a single block moved the wrong way can block the whole path.

With a traditional wooden Klotski, you usually play a few well-known layouts and then have to search for new ones. In the AI version, every level has a different starting layout. Just arrange the blocks as shown on the screen and start solving. According to the distributors, the device contains 520 levels, generated automatically and arranged from easy to hard. This way the difficulty increases gradually and the puzzle doesn't get boring after a few games.

Who is it for?

This logic puzzle requires no knowledge of algorithms and no previous experience with cubes. It works well for a child who enjoys brain teasers and for an adult who wants to practise planning moves. Cubers often treat sliding puzzles as a break from cubes. Klotski trains thinking several steps ahead rather than finger speed. The flat, square format is easy to take with you, which also makes it a sensible gift idea for someone who likes puzzles but doesn't necessarily solve the 3x3 cube.
