The RS3M 2020 quickly became one of the best-selling budget 3x3 magnetic cubes, especially in the United States. It was so popular that separate kits were made just to add extra magnets to it. The MoYu CH RS3M 2020 Enhanced comes with this upgrade straight from the factory. In addition to the standard magnets between the pieces, it gets magnets in the core and in the corner feet.

How it turns

The base RS3M 2020 has a smooth, slightly crispy feel. For its price range, it is also praised for very good forward corner cutting. The magnets in the standard version are fairly weak, and some cubers found them too subtle. In the Enhanced version, the extra magnets in the core and corners help the layers snap into place, so the cube is more stable during faster turning. Even so, the magnets still won't tire your hand during longer solving sessions.

It is still a budget design, with no MagLev and no Ball-Core. Flagship models offer more setup options and a more refined feel. At this price, though, it's hard to find anything better suited to everyday practice.

Adjustment

The RS3M 2020 features the dual adjustment system known from MoYu cubes. The screws change the compression, i.e. how tightly the layers are pressed together. Spring tension is set in 9 steps with a special key. This lets you set the cube looser for speed or tighter for control. A screwdriver and a key are included.

Enhanced or the regular RS3M 2020?

The mechanism is the same; the difference is in the magnets. The regular version only has them between the pieces. The Enhanced version also has magnets in the core and corners, so it is a better choice if you want a more stable cube with more noticeable layer alignment. Don't confuse it with the newer Super RS3M (2022), which is a separate model with MagLev.

Who is it for?

For anyone buying their first proper speedcubing cube. Also for parents looking for a good magnetic cube for their child without overpaying. It also works well as a second cube for practice or for carrying around. It is allowed in official competitions.
