MoYu Meilong 11x11 V2

The second generation of the Meilong 11x11 is much smaller than its predecessor. The original MoYu Meilong 11x11 measured about 89-90 mm and weighed over 450 g. The MoYu Meilong 11x11 V2 measures 69.5 mm and weighs about 217 g, roughly the same as a typical 5x5 or 6x6 cube. It is a non-magnetic 11x11 cube in the stickerless bright version, with a matte, frosted finish.

Size and weight in practice

With big cubes, size and weight are what tire you out the most while solving. A single 11x11 solve takes a long time, and with a large, heavy model your hands get tired quickly. The V2 is easier to hold in one hand and puts less strain on your wrists. The small size has a flip side, though: each layer is only about 6 mm wide. If you have large hands or are used to older big cubes, you may need some time to grip the inner layers precisely.

Design

• Wider outer layers. Your fingers have more to grip, so they slip less when turning the outer layers.
• Reinforced three-layer core. It is designed to stiffen the structure and reduce deformation of the cube.
• Anti-pop features. The corners have special "feet" that help keep the cube together during long sessions.
• Matte (frosted) surface. The plastic doesn't look glossy and, according to the manufacturer, is resistant to impact and abrasion.

Standard or magnetic version?

The Meilong 11x11 V2 is also available in a magnetic version with a Ball-Core. It additionally has 160 magnets plus magnets in the core. The magnets help the layers settle into place and give clearer alignment after each move, but they raise the price. This product is the non-magnetic version. The cube turns more freely and doesn't "click", so precise layer alignment depends on your turning. For your first 11x11 or for casual solving, this version is more than enough.

Who is it for?

For cubers who already solve big cubes (6x6, 7x7 and larger) and want to take the next step without buying a large, heavy cube. The Meilong V2 is also a great addition to the collection of anyone collecting NxN sizes. This is not a cube for beginners who are just learning the 3x3. It's best to master reduction on the 4x4 and 5x5 first.
