The MoYu MeiLong 13x13x13 is a non-magnetic, stickerless 13x13 cube with an edge of about 100 mm and a weight of about 597 g, noticeably smaller and lighter than older 13x13 cubes. Tension is adjusted with screws. It is a good cube if you already have experience with smaller big cubes.
This cube has thirteen layers on every side, yet each edge measures only about 100 mm. The MoYu MeiLong 13x13x13 comes from the budget MeiLong series, which MoYu releases under the MoFang JiaoShi label. It is a non-magnetic 13x13 cube in the stickerless bright colour scheme. At launch, the manufacturer presented it as the smallest 13x13 on the market, and its size is still what sets it apart most from older big cubes in this category.
With so many layers, the dimensions decide whether you can solve the cube comfortably in your hands. For comparison, the classic ShengShou 13x13 measures about 130 mm and weighs over a kilogram. The MeiLong weighs about 597 g. Some people solve it without resting it on a table, but if you have smaller hands, a tabletop still comes in handy.
For a 13x13, turning is smooth, and buyers praise its resistance to popping straight out of the box. Lockups do happen, especially when the layers are not precisely aligned. The cube handles calm, precise turning better than aggressive turns. Corner cutting is decent, but don't expect the feel of small speedcubes. The cube has no magnets, so the layers don't snap into place on their own, and with this many slices you have to keep them aligned yourself. Some users note that this 13x13 turns less lightly than the MeiLong 12x12 from the same series.
Tension is set with adjustment screws. Tighter screws give you a more stable cube that locks up less often. Looser screws give lighter turning but require more precise layer alignment.
MoYu later released the MeiLong 13x13 V3. It is noticeably smaller (75 mm) and lighter, and it is also available in a magnetic version with Ball-Core. This product is the first version: 100 mm and without magnets. With 13 layers, the size difference matters. A single layer here is about 7.7 mm wide, compared with just under 6 mm in the V3, so it is easier to grip a specific slice.
For people who have already solved smaller big cubes, such as a 7x7 or 9x9, and want to try a 13x13. It is also for collectors of high-order puzzles. This is not a cube for beginners or a first cube for a child. 13x13 is not a WCA event, so this cube is for solving for fun and beating your own records, not for competing in official competitions.

kostka spoko
