MoYu MeiLong 9CM 2x2 is an enlarged version of the popular budget MeiLong 2x2 cube from the MoYu Cubing Classroom (MFJS) line. The standard MeiLong measures about 50 mm, while this 2x2 cube has 90 mm sides, almost twice as big, so it catches the eye straight away on a desk or shelf. We stock it in the stickerless bright version: made of coloured plastic, with no stickers that could wear off or peel.

How does a big 2x2 cube turn?

The manufacturer and sellers highlight its smooth, pleasant turning. In their reviews, users say that despite its large size it turns much like the regular MeiLong 2x2. The corners are rounded, so the cube sits comfortably in your hands even during longer sessions. At this size, though, you hold it differently from a standard 2x2, more with your whole hands than just your fingers. Fingertricks you know from a 50 mm cube take some getting used to here. With a cube of this size and weight, it's more about the fun of solving than record-breaking TPS.

Adjustment

You can set the tension with a regular screwdriver, so you decide whether the cube should turn looser and faster or tighter with more control. This is especially useful in a big cube, because the heavier pieces can behave less predictably if the setting is too loose.

Who is it for?

The MeiLong 9CM works well as a cube for learning and demonstrating algorithms. The large pieces are visible from a distance, making it easier to show someone the moves, for example in classes with children or at a cubing club. It's also a nice addition to a collection and a desk decoration. A display stand is included. For a child, it can be a great first experience with a 2x2 cube, as the large pieces are easier to grip. For timed practice, it's better to choose a standard 2x2 cube of about 50 mm, ideally a magnetic one.
