MoYu MeiLong 9x9x9

MoYu MeiLong 9x9x9 is a budget 9x9 cube from the MeiLong series, released under the MoFang JiaoShi (MFJS) brand. It is a refreshed version of the MF9. The mechanism and piece design are the same. The changes are new packaging and lighter springs fitted at the factory. The cube has no magnets and comes in a stickerless bright colour scheme.

How it turns

Thanks to the lighter springs, the layers turn noticeably lighter than on the MF9, with less resistance on every move. At 74 mm, the MeiLong is smaller than many classic 9x9 cubes, so it sits comfortably in your hands during long solves. Users describe the turning as smooth, and once lubed, the cube runs quietly and fluidly. Keep in mind, though, that this is an inexpensive big cube without magnets. When the layers are not well aligned, lockups can happen, and corner cutting is limited. The cube handles calm, accurate turning better than aggressive corner cutting.

Tension adjustment

Tension is set with adjustment screws. If the cube feels too loose or too stiff out of the box, you can tighten or loosen it to suit your solving style. With this many pieces, it's best to adjust gradually, as a setup that is too loose increases the risk of popping.

MeiLong 9x9 or V3?

There is also the newer MeiLong 9x9 V3 on the market. It is smaller (65.5 mm), noticeably lighter and also available in a magnetic version with Ball-Core. The model described here is the earlier, non-magnetic generation. Apart from the series name, it has nothing in common with the V3, so when comparing cubes, pay attention to the version name.

Who is it for?

It suits someone who can already solve smaller NxN cubes and wants to try a 9x9 without spending much, or a collector of the MeiLong series. An advanced big cuber who needs stability at high TPS will probably prefer a magnetic version. 9x9 is not a WCA event, so this cube is not for official competitions.
