MoYu Meilong Skewb

MoYu Meilong Skewb

MoYu Meilong Skewb is an affordable, non-magnetic skewb from the Meilong series. The series is made by MoFangJiaoShi (MFJS), a MoYu brand that releases budget puzzles in almost every category, from 2x2 to various unusual puzzles. This skewb has a simple mechanism and a matte, lightly frosted surface. It is legal for official WCA competitions, so you can use it for your first competitions in this event.

How it turns

Turning is light and fast right out of the box. Its weak point is stability. The puzzle has no magnets, so the layers don't snap into place by themselves and it's easy to overturn them. During fast turning the skewb can feel loose and "wobbly", and users often mention this. Tightening the screws and choosing the right lube helps, but even then it won't behave like a magnetic model. You simply have to learn to make firm, precise turns on it.

Construction and adjustment

The internal and external construction is typical for a skewb: springs and screws in the core. You set the tension with the screws. A tighter puzzle is more stable but turns a bit heavier. A looser setup is faster but misaligns more easily.

Who is it for?

It's a good first skewb for anyone who wants to get to know this puzzle and learn to solve it without spending much. It also works well as a gift for a child who can already solve a 3x3, or as a spare puzzle. If you practise skewb for speed and stability matters to you, it's better to go straight for a magnetic model.

Colour versions

Two versions are available: Stickerless Bright, made of coloured plastic without stickers, and Bright/Black.
