MoYu Mini Screwdriver

The MoYu Mini Screwdriver is a small Phillips screwdriver for adjusting cubes. It is about 4 cm long and weighs just a few grams, so it fits in your pocket, pencil case or cube bag. Use it to tighten and loosen the screws in the core. This changes the tensioning, meaning how firmly the pieces are held against the mechanism. The MoYu logo is on the back.

Which cubes does it fit?

The screwdriver has a Phillips #1 (PH1) tip. According to the distributor, it fits most MoYu cubes. However, not all cubes use screws of this size. Some models, for example the MoYu WeiLong GTS and GuoGuan YueXiao, have smaller PH0 screws, which this screwdriver does not fit. Buyers also report that the tip turned out to be too big for some of their cubes. So before you buy, it's a good idea to check which screws your cube has. Many newer cubes have no screws to turn at all, because they are adjusted with a dial in the core or with a key included in the set. The screwdriver won't be useful for those cubes.

How to adjust a cube with a screwdriver

• Remove the center cap from the middle of the face to reach the screw.
• Turn the screw a little at a time, e.g. half a turn, and check how the layer turns after each adjustment.
• A looser setting gives faster turning and better corner cutting, but increases the risk of popping, meaning pieces falling out.
• A tighter cube is more stable, but has more resistance.
• On a 3x3 cube, turn all six screws by the same amount so that all layers have similar resistance.

Who is it for?

For anyone with cubes that use classic screw tension adjustment who wants a small, light screwdriver always at hand, for example at competitions or while travelling. It's also handy for parents: when a child's cube starts falling apart or turns too stiffly, a few turns of the screw are usually enough to fix it. If your cube has PH0 screws, choose a screwdriver with a smaller tip.
