A budget magnetic 4x4 cube from the MoYu (MoFangJiaoShi) RS series and the bigger brother of the RS3M. It offers smooth turning, medium-strength magnets, frosted plastic and screw tension adjustment, with very good value for money.

MoYu RS4M 4x4x4 is a magnetic 4x4 cube from the budget RS series and the bigger brother of the popular RS3M. It was released in 2020 by MoFangJiaoShi (Cubing Classroom), a brand owned by MoYu. The RS series aims to be fast, stable and affordable, and the RS4M follows that path: you get a fully fledged magnetic 4x4 cube in stickerless bright colors with frosted plastic.
Turning is smooth and the moves feel fluid. Lockups appear mainly when the cube is set up very loose. Corner cutting is good, although some users feel the inner layers could use a bit more. Right out of the box you can feel slight play in the mechanism. Not everyone likes that, so if you prefer very tight 4x4 cubes, keep it in mind.
Opinions about the cube out of the box are mixed. Some say it's fast thanks to the factory lube, others say it's a bit slow at first and can catch. Reviewers agree, however, that the RS4M improves a lot after a few days of solving and after you dial in your setup (lube, tension). With more precise turning, the cube then performs predictably.
The magnets are of medium strength, and many cubers even find them slightly too weak. This makes the moves light, and the cube won't tire your hands even during longer solving sessions. If you're looking for a distinct "click" when layers snap into place, though, you may find the magnetic alignment fairly subtle. You adjust the tension with screws, using the screwdriver included in the set.
The RS4M works well as a first magnetic 4x4 cube for someone moving from 3x3 to bigger cubes, or as an affordable cube for practice and taking on the go. The value for money is very good. If you expect strong magnets and advanced adjustment systems, you'll find them in more expensive 4x4 cubes.
