MoYu Teaching Series 3x3x3

MoYu Teaching Series 3x3x3 is a series of 3x3 cubes for learning to solve. What sets them apart from a regular cube is the colors. Some faces share a single uniform color, so while you learn each stage you don't have to keep track of all six colors at once. This makes it easier to understand how the pieces move around the cube. The series was released in 2020 and comes in five versions: Unicorn, Red hat, SandWich, Concave-Convex and Chips. Each one has a different color scheme.

How a teaching cube works

The Red hat version shows this well. The bottom two layers have regular colors, while the whole top layer is red. This lets you focus on solving the first two layers, which is the F2L stage in the CFOP method, without the last layer distracting you. There is one thing to keep in mind: the bottom face color is orange, not white. If you always start with the white cross, you will need to get used to this. For a beginner, it makes little difference.

Turning

This is not a speedcubing cube. It has no magnets and turns properly, but rather slowly. Thanks to this, overshooting rarely happens, and a child who is just learning the moves can control it more easily. In the Red hat version, the top layer pieces have more rounded edges, so the cube sits better in a small hand. The cube has adjustment screws, so you can change the tension a little if it feels too loose or too tight.

Who is it for?

Above all, it's for young children who are just learning to solve the 3x3. It's also useful for parents and teachers who guide the learning step by step. A more experienced cuber can use it to practice a specific stage, for example F2L with the Red hat version. Please note that this cube is not allowed in official WCA competitions. Once your child has mastered the basics, it's worth getting a regular magnetic cube with the classic color scheme.
