MoYu Weilong Clock 4x4 M

MoYu Weilong Clock 4x4 M

A magnetic Clock from the flagship WeiLong series. Despite the "4x4" in the name, this is a standard WCA-format Clock, not a puzzle of a different size. It has two faces with 9 clocks each and 4 pins, and the goal is to set all the hands to 12 o'clock. The MoYu Weilong Clock 4x4 M has 156 magnets and a transparent housing that shows the mechanism inside. It comes in four colors: Black, Blue, Pink and Purple.

How the magnets work

On clocks without magnets, overshooting is easy: the dial turns too far and you have to turn it back. Here the magnets pull the dial to the nearest hour. Every move ends with a distinct click, and the hand stops at the right position instead of between hours.

First user reviews are mixed. Some people praise the smooth turning and strong, clear positioning. They also say the dials turn with less resistance than on the magnetic ESTAR and that the clock is easy to take apart for lubing. Others find it too fast, because a hard flick can turn the dial much further than intended. If you practice on a heavier clock, you may need a moment to adjust the force of your moves.

Design

• 156 magnets placed by the dials, setting the faces into each successive hour position.
• One-piece pins integrated with the gears. This gives pin switching a clear, consistent click.
• Wider, contoured dials with grooves that are easier to feel with your finger and turn in both directions without looking.
• A clearly marked 12 o'clock and easy-to-read faces. On some clocks from other brands, this marker is hard to see.
• The color is in the plastic, so there are no stickers that could wear off.

Who is it for?

Mainly for people practicing Clock for WCA competitions who want to switch from a non-magnetic clock to a magnetic one. It also works well as a first Clock, because it comes with a guide covering the solving basics. A tip for parents: you don't need to know how to solve a 3x3 cube to solve the Clock. It is a separate puzzle with its own fairly simple rules.
