MoYu WeiLong GTS3 LM 3x3

MoYu WeiLong GTS3 LM is a version of the GTS3M with weaker magnets. LM stands for Light Magnets. The mechanism, body and adjustment system are the same as in the GTS3M. Only the magnet strength is different. This 3x3 cube comes magnetic out of the box, measures 56 mm, weighs approx. 90 g and is available in a stickerless bright version. It was released in 2018.

How it turns

With weaker magnets, the cube "holds" the layers less, so turning is lighter and faster than on the GTS3M, with only a small loss of stability. According to user reviews, the GTS3 is fast and smooth, has a slightly crispy feel and good corner cutting. The magnets in the LM are noticeable but don't get in the way while solving. They mainly suit people who don't like a strong "click" on every move. If you prefer a cube that clearly snaps layers into place by itself and protects against overshooting, the standard GTS3M with stronger magnets will be a better choice.

The outer edges of the pieces have raised ridges. They improve grip, especially during fast turning.

Adjustment

Tension is set with screws, as in most speedcubing puzzles. On top of that, the GTS3 has a spring compression adjustment system that lets you change spring stiffness with the key included in the set. This way you can set the cube looser for speed, or tighter if control matters more to you. The set also includes spacers for adjusting the cube after fully disassembling it.

Who is it for?

For anyone who wants a fast, magnetic 3x3 cube with a light magnetic feel and the option of precise setup. The GTS3 LM is a 2018 design and doesn't have the features of newer WeiLongs, such as MagLev or Ball-Core. Still, it is a fully fledged speedcubing puzzle, allowed in official competitions.
