This set isn't made for breaking records. It's made for creating pictures. The QiYi 10x10 100pcs Mosaic Cube includes 100 miniature 3x3 cubes, each 28 mm on a side, and a canvas board with a 10x10 grid. Each cube has 9 stickers on its front face, so the finished mosaic has 30x30 coloured dots, or 900 "pixels". That's enough for a logo, a video game character, some lettering or a simple portrait.

How a cube mosaic is made

On each cube, you set the front face to the right colour pattern and clip the cube into a slot on the board. The slots lock the cubes in place, so they sit straight and stay lined up in rows, and the picture doesn't shift out of place. The set includes a tool for inserting and removing cubes. It comes in handy when you need to fix a single section without taking the whole mosaic apart.

You don't have to work out the pattern yourself. With the mobile app, you can choose a ready-made design or upload your own photo. The app turns it into pixel art and shows you how to set up each cube. With 100 cubes you'll need some patience, but the step-by-step instructions make it much easier.

Cubes and finish

The cubes have a black body and frosted tiles in bright colours. According to the manufacturer, the surface is scratch-resistant and glare-free. This matters for display: a matte mosaic doesn't shine under a lamp and is easier to photograph. The cubes are much smaller than a standard 3x3 (usually about 55-57 mm), so they're designed for making mosaics, not for speedcubing practice.

Display and expansion

You can stand the finished picture on a desk or shelf using the stand with an adjustable tilt angle, or hang it on the wall using the mounting holes. The boards connect magnetically, so you can combine several sets into a larger mosaic.
