QiYi 10x10x10

QiYi 10x10x10 is a budget non-magnetic 10x10 cube released by QiYi in 2022. It measures about 84 mm and weighs 355 g. For this many layers it is fairly compact and sits well in your hands, even if you have mostly solved smaller cubes before. The stickerless bright version has matte plastic and bright, easy-to-tell-apart colors, which helps a lot on big cubes, where each face has 100 pieces.

How it turns

The mechanism feels similar to QiYi cubes from the S/S2 series. The cube turns smoothly and is stable. Compared with other 10x10 cubes at this price, the turning is very good. Users describe it as solid and resistant to popping, so it is hard to make it fall apart even when you turn more aggressively. Out of the box the cube can be dry and fairly tight, so it is not especially fast. Lube and a short break-in period noticeably improve smoothness. The wider outer layers and rounded corners make it easier to grip the cube and turn large blocks.

Tension adjustment

Tension is set with adjustment screws. Tightening them makes the cube more controllable, while loosening them makes it turn more lightly. On a 10x10 this matters a lot, because a cube set up too loose is more prone to misalignments on the inner layers.

Non-magnetic or magnetic?

This product is the basic non-magnetic version. QiYi also offers a 10x10 with magnets and Ball-Core, meaning magnets between the corners and the core. That version gives clearer layer alignment and more control, but it is more expensive. For learning center reduction and edge pairing, as well as for casual solving, the non-magnetic version is more than enough.

Who is it for?

The cube is a good choice if you have already worked through 4x4–7x7 and want to try your first 10x10 without spending a lot. It also fits nicely into an NxN puzzle collection. 10x10 is not a WCA event, so you cannot use it at official competitions. For a complete beginner who is just learning the 3x3, it is probably too big a jump.
